So…how do you lead a family? The same way Jesus led his disciples yesterday, the same way Jesus leads us today. Lead Your Family Like Jesus is a book worth bringing to the readers and followers of 1Corinthians13Parenting.
The book is under 200 pages. An easy read but rich in wisdom! It contains twelve meaty parenting principles. It is sectioned off into four parts, the places from which leadership occurs: the heart, the head, the hands, and the habits. The three authors: Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges (leadership gurus and grandfathers), and Tricia Goyer (mom and author) discuss how a parent’s values, belief, lifestyle, and personal relationship with the Lord impact family life.
The book is laid out nicely. The voice of each author’s perspective is heard throughout plus other parent’s experiences are sprinkled in each chapter. Scripture is woven into the text and places for the reader to pause and reflect are provided.
My favorite piece was the idea of “EGO” (Edging God Out) contrasted to the “altar EGO” (Exalting God Only). The reader discovers maintaining focus on God will motivate him or her to raise a family from a place of humility and confidence rather than pride and fear.
You will be blessed by reading this book and implementing its principles. You can find it at your local Christian book store or on-line.
