Parenting l Fall 2017 Love Note Newsletter

August 2, 2017 By Becky Danielson

This newsletter is dedicated to our friend Jeff Davidson.

Friends, it is with great sadness we are informing you of the loss of Jeff Davidson. Jeff was a husband to Becky and father of Jon Alex (aka Superman). He was the founder of Rising Above Ministries and member of the 1 Corinthians 13 Parenting Team. Jeff’s strong faith and family devotion was inspiring. In great humility he shared his struggles, helping each of his readers grow in their faith by seeing things from a heavenly perspective. Jeff will be missed by many, especially the families in the special needs community. To find out more about Jeff and his legacy of love for the special needs community click here. To read some of Jeff’s 1C13P tender yet challenging posts click here.
With faith, hope, and love,

Friends,
This summer was filled with many big events, personal and professional.  Three weddings, 2 week vacation at the family cabin in Minnesota, time with my San Francisco daughter (YAY), being on staff at a Healing for the Soul Retreat in Colorado Springs, and a book signing for Messy Journey in Minnesota. A fun filled summer for sure… well mostly fun. While water skiing, I strained a muscle in my back. Not too fun. But if I change my perspective and look at life the way my friend Jeff Davidson did I would see the injury was a blessing. It caused me to be still and spend more time with my Creator. I’m looking forward to what God has in store for fall. If you want to contact me for a speaking event or parent coaching go to www.loriwildenberg.com. Or if you want to host a HeartCORe Family Conference head over to 1C13P and click the contact tab to reach Becky and me.
Love endures forever, ~Lori

Sweet readers,
Summer is a time to slow down, rest, and reset. The backyard “she shed” is almost finished. Little friends and their moms are already visiting the kitchen garden to pick tomatoes, snap peas, and summer squash. Catch the growth of the garden and the progress on the shed on the Faith First Parent Facebook page.
The highlight of July was a trip to Ireland. Scott, the boys and I rented a car and toured the backroads, enjoyed amazing food, and met wonderful people. In Westport, we happened upon Good News 4 U, a Christian bookstore on the town square. Pauline, the woman running the store, and I talked and prayed together for their new church and the bookstore where they give bibles to anyone who asks. I’m so grateful for the way He weaves His people together to share His Word!
With school starting, take time to read the posts listed above to get the school year off to a great start. Contact me if you’d like to schedule a parent consultation or a speaking event. May your fall be filled with faith, hope, and love!

If you have a prodigal, were a prodigal, or know someone who has a prodigal you need this book. You will find help, healing, and hope in these pages. Go to Amazon or your favorite spot to buy books.

From a reader: ” I just finished this book & it was so timely for me personally! She could have been writing about my own messy journey with my child, it was that closely mirrored but she also touches on just about every possible scenario we may encounter with our children, not just sexual lifestyle choices. Found within her words is wisdom along with permission & freedom to feel the very normal emotions we feel without judgement or condemnation. It is full of hope & healing for the broken hearts & relationships we experience along the way. It is so relatable & came at a time when I am stepping into another messy journey with another child, only this time I feel a little more equipped to deal with the situation, the emotions, & the pain of the journey. You can bet that this book will stay close to me the entire way. She gives examples of prodigal prayers that give me words to pray for my child when words fail me & that added resource alone is incredibly valuable to me. God’s timing in placing this in my hands now is just more proof that He is right there with me on this new journey just as He was on the previous one, only this time with added resources. We are all on a messy journey in some way or another because raising kids is, quite simply, messy & Lori’s book gives voice, clarity, & validation to what that journey looks & feels like & encouragement to trust God with all of it. I truly believe this book is God-inspired & God-infused & offers healing to a whole lot of broken & hurting people, parents & prodigals alike.”
