When my two kids were elementary age, we would schedule a once a summer spiritual picnic. We invited families from church and the neighborhood to join us. A grill was provided for cooking and each family would bring a pot luck dish.
The agenda for the picnic was simple. Parents would hang out together under the shelter talking and looking after the babies and younger children. Older children and parents would play together on the playground equipment or kick soccer balls and toss Frisbees.
After lunch, parents and children would join together to participate in a faith-based activity. One of the favorites was Super Hero. Click to download this free activity for your family!
The interactive summer picnic days were fun for both parents and children. Everyone enjoyed engaging their kids and neighbor kids in some friend and family fun while actually experiencing an important spiritual principle or value. Tweet about this post!
Do not work for food that spoils,
but for the food that endures to eternal life.
What ideas do you have on how to invite Jesus to your picnic?
